The Porsche 997 is a significant model in the 911 lineage, marking a significant evolution of the iconic sports car.  It followed the 996 generation, which introduced water-cooled engines and a controversial design departure from traditional 911 styling. The 997, on the other hand, returned to more classic 911 design cues while incorporating modern technology and improved performance.  It also featured a comprehensive range of models and engine options, including the popular GT3 and Turbo variants, and introduced the Carrera GTS. 

The Porsche 997 Carrera GTS occupies a special place in the 911 range as a high-performance model between the Carrera S and the more track-focused GT3.  Designed as a driver’s car, the GTS was more powerful than the S, had better handling via a bespoke suspension design, and was positioned as a more street-friendly alternative to Porsche’s track-focused GT3 variant. 

It offers a balance of power and luxury, making it a popular choice among Porsche enthusiasts who desire a sports car that can be driven daily yet also deliver exhilarating performance on demand.  It features a 3.8-litre flat-six engine that produces 402 horsepower, 23 horsepower more than the standard Carrera S.

The GTS also comes standard with Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package, which includes a sport button that sharpens the throttle response, suspension tuning, and other performance settings.
