The Spiritual successor to the iconic 300SL Gullwing, the aluminium bodied SLS AMG, which stands for Super Light Sport, was designed to be a true sports car offering true sports car driving dynamics. The SLS was the first Mercedes Benz built from scratch entirely by AMG with the assistance of then F1 driver David Coulthard. 

Introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motorshow, it was not until its appointment as the official Formula 1 safety car during the 2010 season that the public got to see what it can do on a race track. In race trim, the SLS AMG GT3 competed in GT competitions around the world to great success, including taking the win at the Dubai 24hrs in 2012 and 2013. 

Off the circuits, the SLS AMG also won a number of design awards, including the 2010 Red Dot “Best of The Best” award and Auto Bild Design Award’s “Europe’s Most Attractive Car”.
