Only the second sports car developed entirely in house at Mercedes-AMG, the AMG GT series superseded the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as the torchbearer of high performance road cars from the motorsports arm. 

The AMG GT R Roadster is based on the high performance AMG GT R coupe and is limited to only 750 units worldwide. The AMG GT R Roadster is mechanically identical to the coupe, retaining the guttural dry sump 4 litre twin-turbo V8 engine built in line with the firm’s “One man, one engine.” philosophy. The AMG GT R Roadster also retains the coupe’s performance-driving oriented hardware like manually adjustable coilover springs, in conjunction with the AMG Ride Control suspension, and a manually adjustable rear wing, seen here in optional carbon fibre. 

Sporting suspension components, body panels and a spaceframe chassis in aluminium, and an engine bonnet in magnesium, the AMG GT R Roadster incorporates state-of-the-art production methods and materials to keep weight in check, underpinning the firm’s motto – AMG Driving Performance. 

This rare, official dealer imported unit is in the special Designo Graphite Grey Magno paintwork, first introduced on the limited edition AMG GT C Edition 50. The matt paintwork is accentuated by the glossy optional carbon fibre package and lends the car a befittingly powerful, mysterious demeanour. Optional carbon fibre are also specified for the interior and works to great effect with the spotless black nappa leather clad ventilated seats and seat belts in silver.
